The King Becomes Like a Beast

About a year after having a dream warning him about his pride, King Nebuchadnezzar refuses to humble himself. He continues to boast about his power and accomplishments, believing he is greater than anyone else. As a result, God takes away his sanity, and he loses his royal position. Nebuchadnezzar is driven away from human society and forced to live in the wilderness like a wild animal. For seven years, he survives in the open fields, eating grass like cattle. His hair grows long and unkempt, resembling eagle feathers, and his nails become thick and sharp, like the claws of a bird. Only after this long period of humiliation does he finally acknowledge God’s power, and his sanity is restored.

Bible Verse: “His hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.” (Daniel 4:33)
