The Fall of Babylon

That very night, just as Daniel had warned, King Belshazzar of Babylon was killed. Earlier that evening, Belshazzar had hosted a grand feast, arrogantly using sacred gold and silver cups from God’s temple to drink and praise false gods. During the celebration, a mysterious hand appeared and wrote a cryptic message on the palace wall. Daniel was called to interpret the writing, and he revealed that God had judged Belshazzar for his arrogance and misuse of holy items. As Daniel predicted, the prophecy came true—Babylon fell that very night, and the Medo-Persian Empire took control. Darius the Mede became the new ruler of Babylon, marking the end of Belshazzar’s reign.

Bible Verse: “That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain.” (Daniel 5:30)
