Chapter 4: The Web of Vengeance

Katelyn pulled away from Vincent’s kiss just as the penthouse elevator doors slid open. Neil stood there, disheveled, his eyes bloodshot—a far cry from the arrogant man who had thrown divorce papers at her.
“Katelyn, please—” His voice cracked. “I made a mistake.”
Vincent didn’t even turn around, his lips still hovering inches from hers. “You hear something?” he murmured, playing dumb.
Katelyn smirked. “Just a rat squeaking.”
Neil stumbled forward, desperation twisting his face. “I didn’t know who you really were! If I had—”
“If you had, you would’ve milked me for every dollar and still cheated,” Katelyn cut in, her voice ice-cold. “The only difference now is that you know what you lost.”
Neil fell to his knees. “I’ll do anything. Just give me another chance!”
Vincent finally turned, his expression dark with amusement. “Pathetic.” He pulled out his phone and tapped the screen. Instantly, the penthouse’s smart TV flickered to life, displaying security footage from earlier that day—Neil and Lise laughing as they shredded Katelyn’s old designs, calling them “worthless trash.”
Katelyn arched a brow. “You bugged my old house?”
Vincent shrugged. “I like being prepared.”
Neil’s face drained of color. “That—that was just a joke! Lise forced me to—”
“Save it,” Katelyn snapped. She strode to her desk and opened her laptop, fingers flying across the keyboard. Within seconds, the TV screen changed again—this time to Neil’s private bank accounts, draining in real time as millions vanished into encrypted offshore wallets.
Neil screamed. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”
Katelyn smiled sweetly. “Just a little hobby of mine.”
Meanwhile – Lise’s Downfall
Lise’s phone blew up with notifications.
[BREAKING] Model Lise Cooper’s leaked DMs reveal blackmail, sabotage, and affair with married investors.
Her Instagram followers plummeted by the thousands as brands dropped her. Then came the final blow—a video of her bribing a judge to evict a struggling single mother from her home.
“Who cares if she’s homeless?” Lise’s sneering voice played on loop across every major news outlet. “I wanted that penthouse.”
The clip had been buried in her own cloud storage—a place only a world-class hacker could access.
Vincent’s Secret
As Neil sobbed on the floor, Vincent pulled Katelyn aside. “You’re even more ruthless than I expected,” he murmured, admiration glinting in his eyes.
She met his gaze. “Why are you really helping me?”
A shadow crossed his face. “Because Neil’s father ruined mine. Drove him to suicide over a business deal.” His thumb brushed her cheek where Neil had struck her. “But this? Watching you destroy him? It’s better than revenge. It’s art.“
Katelyn’s breath hitched. For the first time, she saw the man beneath the billionaire—the wounded boy who understood her fury.
Before she could respond, her laptop pinged. A new email.
Subject: You’ve Been Found.
Her blood ran cold. The message contained a single line:
“Hello, Shadow. Did you really think you could hide forever?”
