Chapter 10

The next few weeks were a whirlwind. The Sullivan family’s whispers grew louder, their cold glances more frequent whenever I stepped into business meetings. They tried to push me out, treating me like an intruder in what was once supposed to be my world.

But I wasn’t going to let them win.

I poured myself into my work, showing them I was stronger than their petty games. Every design I created, every contract I signed, was a small victory—a reminder that I was no longer just Lucien’s wife. I was Aurora Diaz, and I had my own life to live.

Daniel stood by my side, quietly supporting me. He attended meetings with me when he could, lending a steady presence. It surprised me how much having someone believe in me made a difference.

One night, after a particularly tough day, I sat on the balcony, staring out at the city lights. Daniel joined me, handing me a cup of tea.

“You’re doing amazing,” he said softly.

I smiled, feeling a warmth that wasn’t just from the tea.

“Thanks. It’s scary, though. This isn’t the life I imagined for myself.”

He shrugged. “Sometimes life throws us curveballs. But how we catch them—that’s what counts.”

I nodded, thinking about everything I’d been through—the betrayal, the loneliness, the fight to reclaim my life.

Maybe, just maybe, I was ready to catch whatever came next.
