Chapter 11

As days turned into weeks, the tension between me and the Sullivan family only grew. Their thinly veiled hostility pushed me to be even stronger, more determined. I refused to be a shadow in my own life.

One afternoon, during a crucial business presentation, Lucien’s father showed up unannounced. His cold gaze swept over the room, landing on me with thinly concealed disdain.

“You’re overstepping, Aurora,” he said sharply. “This is a Sullivan family matter.”

I met his gaze without flinching. “I’m here because I deserve to be. Not because of a name, but because of what I’ve worked for.”

The room was silent. His face tightened, but I could see a flicker of respect beneath the anger.

Later, Daniel took my hand. “You handled that well.”

I smiled. “I’m learning. This time, I’m fighting for myself.”

That night, alone in my apartment, I looked at the small scar on my wrist—reminder of the pain I’d survived.

I whispered to myself, “I’m not the same girl who waited in silence. I’m someone new.”

And with that, I knew: no matter what lay ahead, I would never be broken again.
