Chapter 7: The DNA Test

The DNA Test
The DNA Test

The days leading up to the DNA test were a whirlwind of tension and anticipation. Madisyn tried to focus on her work at the farm, but her mind kept drifting to the upcoming test. The media frenzy had only intensified, with reporters camping outside the farmhouse and Grayson Enterprises, desperate for a scoop.

Alexander had arranged for the test to be conducted privately at his estate, away from prying eyes. On the morning of the test, Victor arrived to pick up Madisyn. Clara and Thomas insisted on coming with her, their protective instincts in full force.

As they drove to the estate, Madisyn stared out the window, her thoughts a jumbled mess. What if the test proved Alexander wasn’t her father? What if everything she had started to believe about her past was a lie?

Clara reached over and took her hand. “No matter what happens, you’re our daughter,” she said firmly. “Nothing will ever change that.”

Madisyn smiled weakly, grateful for their unwavering support.

When they arrived at the estate, Alexander was waiting for them at the door. He greeted Madisyn with a warm smile, though his eyes betrayed his anxiety. “Thank you for coming,” he said. “Let’s get this over with.”

The test was quick and painless, conducted by a team of medical professionals Alexander had hired. As they waited for the results, Madisyn sat in the grand living room, her nerves on edge. Alexander sat across from her, his expression unreadable.

“I want you to know,” he said after a long silence, “that no matter what the results say, I consider you my daughter. You’ve shown more strength and grace than most people I know.”

Madisyn’s eyes filled with tears. “Thank you,” she whispered. “That means a lot.”

The results came back sooner than expected. The doctor entered the room, a sealed envelope in hand. Madisyn’s heart pounded as Alexander took the envelope and opened it. His eyes scanned the document, and for a moment, he said nothing.

Then he looked up, his face breaking into a wide smile. “Madisyn,” he said, his voice filled with emotion, “you’re my daughter. The test confirms it.”

Madisyn felt a wave of relief wash over her. She had known, deep down, that Alexander was her father. But hearing it confirmed was like a weight being lifted off her shoulders.

Clara and Thomas hugged her tightly, their joy evident. “We’re so happy for you,” Clara said, tears streaming down her face.

Alexander stood, his expression resolute. “Now, we put an end to this nonsense. The world will know the truth.”

The next day, Alexander held a press conference at Grayson Enterprises. Madisyn stood by his side, her head held high. Reporters crowded the room, their cameras flashing as Alexander addressed them.

“Recent rumors have called into question the paternity of my daughter, Madisyn Chapman,” he began, his voice commanding. “I’m here to set the record straight. Madisyn is my daughter, as confirmed by a DNA test conducted by reputable professionals. Any further speculation or slander will be met with legal action.”

The room erupted in murmurs, but Alexander wasn’t finished. “Madisyn is not only my daughter but also my heir. She will play a significant role in Grayson Enterprises moving forward. I ask that you respect her privacy as she navigates this new chapter of her life.”

As the press conference ended, Madisyn felt a sense of closure. The truth was out, and she could finally move forward.

But Jenna was far from finished. Watching the press conference from her living room, she seethed with anger. How had Madisyn managed to come out on top again? It wasn’t fair.

She picked up her phone and dialed Derek. “This isn’t over,” she said, her voice cold. “Find me something else. Something that can’t be disproven.”

Derek sighed. “Jenna, this is getting dangerous. You’re playing with fire.”

“I don’t care,” Jenna snapped. “Just do it.”

As Madisyn left the press conference, she felt a sense of hope. She had faced the storm and come out stronger. But she knew Jenna wouldn’t give up so easily. The battle was far from over.

But this time, Madisyn was ready. She had her family—both old and new—by her side. And she wasn’t going to let anyone take that away from her.

The storm was far from over. And Madisyn was ready to face it head-on.
