Elijah arrives in the town of Zarephath, where he meets a poor widow gathering sticks near her home. She looks weak and exhausted, struggling to provide for herself and her son during a severe drought. When Elijah asks her for food, she explains that she has only a handful of flour and a little oil left—just enough to prepare one final meal before she and her son face starvation.

Despite her desperation, Elijah encourages her to trust in God’s promise. He tells her not to be afraid and asks her to bake a small loaf for him first. In faith, she obeys, using the last of her ingredients. Miraculously, her jar of flour and jug of oil never run empty. No matter how much she uses, they continue to replenish day after day, providing enough food to sustain her household throughout the famine.
