The Great Storm Begins

As Jonah lay fast asleep in the lower part of the ship, a powerful storm arose over the sea. The skies darkened, and fierce winds howled through the air, making the waves rise dangerously high. The ship was tossed about like a toy, creaking and groaning under the force of the storm. The sailors, experienced as they were, had never seen anything like it. Terrified, they cried out to their gods, begging for mercy. In desperation, they threw cargo overboard, hoping to lighten the ship and keep it from sinking. But no matter what they did, the storm only grew worse, and they feared that their ship—and their lives—would soon be lost.
