Jonah, knowing that he was the reason for the violent storm, told the sailors, “If you throw me into the sea, the waters will calm down.” The sailors, however, were reluctant to do such a thing. They did not want to be responsible for his death, so they tried to row back to land. But no matter how hard they tried, the storm only grew stronger, and the waves became more dangerous.

Realizing they had no other choice, the sailors prayed to God, asking for forgiveness, saying, “Please do not hold us guilty for taking this man’s life.” Then, with heavy hearts, they lifted Jonah and threw him into the raging sea.

The moment Jonah hit the water, the storm stopped. The waves settled, the winds died down, and the sea became completely calm. The sailors were in awe and greatly feared God, realizing His power over nature.
