Joseph, one of the twelve sons of Jacob, was taken to Egypt after his brothers sold him into slavery. There, he was bought by Potiphar, a high-ranking officer of Pharaoh and the captain of the guard. Even though Joseph was a slave, he remained faithful, hardworking, and honest in all that he did. His dedication and integrity did not go unnoticed—Potiphar saw that God was with Joseph and that everything he did prospered. As a result, Potiphar entrusted Joseph with the management of his entire household, making him responsible for all that he owned.

However, trouble arose when Potiphar’s wife took an inappropriate interest in Joseph. She repeatedly tried to seduce him, but Joseph, being a man of strong moral character and faith in God, refused her advances. One day, when they were alone in the house, she grabbed his cloak and tried to force him into sin. Joseph fled, leaving his garment behind. In her anger and humiliation, Potiphar’s wife falsely accused Joseph of trying to harm her. When Potiphar heard her lies, he became furious and had Joseph thrown into prison, even though he was innocent.

Despite these hardships, God was still with Joseph, guiding him through every trial.

Genesis 39:2-3 (NIV):
“The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant.”
