Bathsheba’s Grief

Bathsheba’s Grief
Bathsheba’s Grief

When Bathsheba received the devastating news of her husband Uriah’s death, her heart was shattered. Grief overwhelmed her, and she wept bitterly, unable to believe that he was truly gone. As was the custom in times of deep sorrow, she put on sackcloth, a rough and uncomfortable fabric, to outwardly express the pain she felt inside.

The home she once shared with Uriah, filled with love, warmth, and laughter, now felt cold and empty. Every corner of the house reminded her of him—the sound of his voice, the way he smiled, and the love they had built together. But now, all that remained was silence and heartbreak.

The Bible describes her mourning in 2 Samuel 11:26:
“When Uriah’s wife heard that her husband was dead, she mourned for him.”

This verse captures the depth of her sorrow as she grieved the loss of the man she loved.
