David was overwhelmed with guilt for what he had done. The weight of his wrongdoing pressed heavily on his heart, and he could no longer bear it. In deep sorrow and regret, he fell to his knees, crying out to God. He knew that his sin was not just against Uriah, the man he had wronged, but also against the Lord Himself. With a broken spirit, David admitted his failure and sincerely asked for forgiveness.

In his repentance, he later wrote Psalm 51, a heartfelt plea for mercy and cleansing. He recognized that only God’s love and compassion could erase his sins and restore him.
