The Consequence of Sin

The Consequence of Sin

Even though God forgave David for his sins, his actions still had serious consequences. The prophet Nathan delivered a heartbreaking message to David: the child born from his relationship with Bathsheba would not survive. This was a direct result of David’s wrongdoing, showing that sin can have lasting effects even after forgiveness.

Not long after, the baby became very sick. Overwhelmed with grief, David turned to God in desperation. He fasted, refused to eat, and spent days praying, pleading with God to spare his child’s life. He hoped that through his prayers and repentance, God might change His decision.

2 Samuel 12:14 – “But because by doing this you have shown utter contempt for the Lord, the son born to you will die.”

This passage reminds us that while God is merciful and willing to forgive, our choices can still bring painful consequences.
