The Child’s Death

The Child’s Death
The Child’s Death

After seven days of illness, the child passed away. David’s servants were afraid to tell him the sad news because they worried about how he would react. They had seen how deeply distressed he was while the child was sick, and they feared that hearing of his death might break him even more. However, David noticed his servants whispering among themselves and understood what had happened.

Surprisingly, instead of falling into despair, David responded with strength and faith. He got up from the ground, washed himself, applied lotion, and changed his clothes. Then, instead of mourning in sorrow, he went to the house of the Lord to worship. This act showed his acceptance of God’s will and his trust in God, even in the face of heartbreaking loss.

2 Samuel 12:20 – “Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions, and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped.”
