The First Glimpse of Sodom
Lot and his family stand atop a hill, looking down at the city of Sodom. The streets below are filled with life—music drifts through the air, torches flicker in the darkness, and people laugh and celebrate in the bustling marketplaces. The city seems full of promise, a place where wealth and prosperity flourish. The bright lights and lively atmosphere make it hard to believe that danger is near. Yet, beneath the surface, Sodom is a place of corruption and wickedness, a city that has turned away from righteousness.
As they watch, the words of Genesis 19:17 echo in their minds: “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”
Though the city appears rich and full of opportunity, its fate has already been sealed. Lot and his family must make a choice—cling to the comforts of Sodom or trust in God’s command and leave everything behind.
