Abraham stands on a hill far away, gazing at the destroyed city of Sodom. As he watches the smoke rising from the ruins, he recalls the moment when he had begged God to spare the city if there were just ten good people living there. Abraham had hoped that, for the sake of a few righteous individuals, God would show mercy and prevent the city’s destruction. But now, looking at the aftermath, he understands that not even ten righteous people were found in Sodom, and God’s judgment had to be carried out.
