Solomon’s Final Reflections

As Solomon grew older, he began to reflect deeply on the life he had lived. Though he had experienced great wealth, enjoyed many pleasures, and achieved incredible success, he came to realize that none of these things could truly satisfy the soul. In the book of Ecclesiastes, he describes the pursuit of these things—pleasure, riches, and accomplishments—as like “chasing the wind.” In other words, they are fleeting, impossible to hold on to, and ultimately leave a person feeling empty.
Looking back, Solomon saw that a life without God at the center has no real meaning or lasting value. He came to the conclusion that what truly matters is living in a way that honors God—by obeying His commandments and striving to live a good and righteous life.

This thoughtful, humble perspective was a big change from the ambitious and energetic man Solomon had been in his youth. It shows the wisdom that can come with age and experience, and it offers a powerful reminder that true fulfillment comes not from external success, but from a life rooted in faith and purpose.
