Preparation for the Temple

Solomon, the son of David, wanted to honor his father’s greatest dream — to build a magnificent temple for the Lord. David had always hoped to do it himself, but the task was left to Solomon after David passed away. Determined to make his father’s vision a reality, Solomon began making preparations for this massive and holy project. He knew that building such a temple would require the best materials and the most skilled workers, so he reached out to King Hiram of Tyre, a neighboring kingdom known for its fine wood and craftsmanship. The two kings formed a friendly alliance, and Hiram agreed to send Solomon valuable building supplies like cedar and juniper logs from the forests of Lebanon.

To handle the huge amount of work required, Solomon also gathered a large number of workers from across Israel. He carefully organized them into groups and gave them specific jobs to do — some would cut wood, others would shape stone, and many would help transport materials. It was a massive team effort, and everyone had an important role to play. This marked the beginning of one of the most important construction projects in the Bible: the building of the temple, as described in 1 Kings 5:1-18.
