The Birth of the Twins

Esau was the first to emerge from the womb, and he was red in color, his body covered with thick hair, making him look like a garment of fur. As he was being lifted, his twin brother Jacob followed closely behind, holding onto Esau’s heel, almost as if he was trying to prevent him from being born first. This moment foreshadowed the struggles that would later arise between the two brothers.

As it is written in Genesis 25:25-26 (NIV):
“The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau. After this, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau’s heel; so he was named Jacob.”
