Isaac Prepares to Bless Esau

Isaac, who was old and had poor eyesight, called his eldest son Esau and told him, “Go out into the fields and hunt some wild game for me. Then prepare a tasty meal, the kind I love, and bring it to me so that I may eat and bless you before I die.” (Genesis 27:1-4, paraphrased).

This blessing was very important because, in biblical times, a father’s blessing was considered a sacred and powerful gift, often determining the future prosperity and leadership of the son who received it.
