Chapter 3: The Revelation

The Revelation
The Revelation

Emily’s POV

The rest of the pack dance passed in a blur. I tried to enjoy myself, but my mind kept drifting back to Alexander. Every time I caught a glimpse of him across the room, my heart would race, and I’d feel that same electric spark from when we danced.

Mila and Jax were inseparable, lost in their own little world. I was happy for them, but their closeness only made me feel more alone.

As the night wore on, I decided to step outside for some fresh air. The cool night breeze was a welcome relief from the stuffy, crowded hall. I leaned against the railing of the packhouse porch, staring up at the stars.

“Couldn’t stay away from me, huh?”

I jumped at the sound of Alexander’s voice. He was standing a few feet away, his hands in his pockets and a playful smirk on his face.

“Alexander,” I said, my voice shaky. “I didn’t know you were out here.”

He stepped closer, his eyes never leaving mine. “I needed some air too. It’s been a long day.”

I nodded, unsure of what to say. The tension between us was palpable, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest.

“You know,” Alexander said, his voice soft, “I’ve always noticed you, Emily. Even when we were kids.”

My breath caught in my throat. “You have?”

He nodded, his expression serious. “You’re different from the others. You don’t try to impress anyone or play games. You’re just… you.”

I didn’t know how to respond. My mind was racing, trying to process his words.

Alexander took another step closer, closing the distance between us. “I’ve been thinking about you a lot since I got back.”

“Me?” I whispered, my voice barely audible.

“Yes, you,” he said, his hand reaching up to brush a strand of hair from my face.

His touch sent a shiver down my spine, and I felt like I was melting under his gaze.

“Emily,” he said, his voice low and husky, “I think you might be my mate.”

My heart stopped. Did I hear him right? Did Alexander Black just say I might be his mate?

Before I could respond, he leaned in, his lips brushing against mine in a soft, tentative kiss. It was over before it began, but it left me breathless.

“Alexander,” I whispered, my mind spinning.

He pulled back slightly, his eyes searching mine. “I know this is sudden, but I can’t ignore what I’m feeling. I need to know if you feel it too.”

I opened my mouth to respond, but before I could say anything, a loud voice interrupted us.

“Alexander! There you are!”

We both turned to see a tall, beautiful she-wolf striding toward us. She had long, flowing hair and an air of confidence that made me feel even more inadequate.

“Lila,” Alexander said, his voice tight.

Lila smiled, her eyes flicking to me before focusing on Alexander. “Your father’s looking for you. He wants to introduce you to someone.”

Alexander hesitated, his gaze lingering on me for a moment before he nodded. “I’ll be right there.”

Lila gave me a dismissive look before turning and walking away.

Alexander sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I’m sorry, Emily. I have to go.”

“It’s okay,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

He reached out, gently squeezing my hand. “We’ll talk later, I promise.”

I nodded, watching as he walked away, my heart heavy with confusion and longing.

As I stood there, trying to make sense of everything that had just happened, Mila appeared at my side.

“Emily, are you okay?” she asked, her voice filled with concern.

I shook my head, tears welling up in my eyes. “I don’t know, Mila. I don’t know what’s happening.”

Mila wrapped her arm around my shoulders, pulling me into a hug. “It’s going to be okay, Emily. Whatever it is, we’ll figure it out together.”

I wanted to believe her, but deep down, I knew things were about to get a lot more complicated.
