Victory Over the Amalekites

Victory Over the Amalekites

The Amalekites, a hostile group, launched an attack on the people of Israel. To help lead his people to victory, Moses climbed to the top of a nearby hill, holding his staff high in the air. As long as he kept his hands raised, the Israelites gained the upper hand in battle. However, when his arms grew weary and he lowered them, the Amalekites began to overpower Israel.

Seeing Moses struggle, his companions, Aaron and Hur, stepped in to help. They brought a stone for him to sit on and then stood on either side, holding up his hands so he could keep the staff raised. They supported him in this way until the sun set, and because of their perseverance, the Israelites won the battle.
