The Cloud and Fire
After the Israelites finished building the Tabernacle, a special tent where they worshiped God, a miraculous sign appeared to show that God was with them. During the day, a great cloud covered the Tabernacle, and at night, a glowing fire was seen in the cloud. This visible sign reassured the people that God was present among them, guiding and protecting them on their journey.
Whenever the cloud lifted and moved, it was a signal for the Israelites to pack up their camp and follow where God was leading them. But when the cloud remained over the Tabernacle, they stayed in that place until it moved again.
This constant presence of the cloud and fire reminded the Israelites that they were never alone God was always with them, providing direction and security.
