The Bronze Serpent

When the Israelites were traveling through the wilderness, they began to complain again about their difficult journey, lack of food, and water. They spoke against God and Moses, questioning why they had been brought out of Egypt only to face hardship.
In response, God allowed poisonous snakes to enter the camp. The snakes bit many of the people, and as a result, a large number of them died. Realizing their mistake, the Israelites went to Moses and admitted their sin, asking him to pray to God for mercy.
Moses prayed on their behalf, and God gave him specific instructions: He was to make a bronze serpent and place it on a pole. God promised that anyone who had been bitten could look at the bronze serpent and be healed. Moses obeyed, and just as God had said, those who looked at the bronze serpent were saved from death.
