A Royal Discovery

One warm afternoon, Pharaoh’s daughter waded knee-deep into the cool waters of the Nile, enjoying the gentle ripples around her feet. The sun shimmered on the river’s surface, and the reeds swayed with the breeze. Suddenly, something unusual caught her eye—a small basket floating among the reeds.
Curious, she turned to her servants and pointed. “What is that over there?”
The servants hurried to retrieve the basket, carefully pulling it from the water. As they opened the lid, they gasped—inside lay a tiny baby, his face scrunched up as he let out soft cries.
Pharaoh’s daughter felt an unexpected surge of emotion. Her heart melted at the sight of the helpless infant. “This must be one of the Hebrew children,” she murmured, recognizing that he was likely among those meant to be put to death by her father’s decree. But instead of following the harsh law, she reached down and gently lifted the baby into her arms, cradling him close.
At that moment, a young girl, Miriam, who had been watching from a distance, bravely stepped forward. With a respectful bow, she spoke, “Shall I find a Hebrew woman to nurse the child for you?”
The princess looked at the baby, considering for a moment, then nodded. “Yes, do so.”
Without wasting a second, Miriam ran as fast as she could back home to fetch her mother, Jochebed—the baby’s real mother. Moments later, Jochebed arrived, breathless and full of hope.
Pharaoh’s daughter smiled as she handed the baby to Jochebed. “Take this child and nurse him for me,” she instructed.
Jochebed’s eyes welled up with tears. Against all odds, she was being given the chance to care for her own son once again. She held him close, cherishing the precious moment, knowing that, for now, he was safe.

Bible Verse:
“When the child grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, ‘I drew him out of the water.'” — Exodus 2:10
