The Name of Babel (Genesis 11:9)

The city came to be known as Babel, a name that means “confusion.” This was because, when the people tried to build a great tower to make a name for themselves rather than honoring God, He caused them to speak different languages. Unable to understand one another, they became scattered across the earth. The name Babel serves as a lasting reminder of what happens when people prioritize their own ambitions over following God’s plan.
