Satan’s Second Challenge

Satan once again came before God and challenged Job’s faithfulness. He argued that Job remained loyal only because he was still healthy and free from pain. Satan insisted that if Job’s body were afflicted—if he suffered physically—then he would surely turn against God and curse Him.

In this moment, Satan declared: “Skin for skin! A man will give up everything he has to save his own life.” (Job 2:4)

This means that people will do anything to protect themselves from suffering, even betraying their beliefs if their own life is at stake. Satan was suggesting that Job’s faith was shallow and that once his health was taken away, he would abandon God.
