Satan Receives Permission

God, fully confident in Job’s unwavering faith and righteousness, permitted Satan to test him in order to prove his devotion. God granted Satan control over all that Job possessed—his wealth, family, and livelihood—but with one strict limitation: Satan was not allowed to harm Job physically. This test was meant to demonstrate Job’s steadfast faith, even in the face of suffering and loss.
