The First Messenger Arrives

A servant rushed up to Job, out of breath and looking terrified, his clothes torn and dust covering his face. He struggled to speak between gasps.

“Master! Disaster has struck! The Sabeans—fierce raiders from the south—came suddenly upon us. The oxen were peacefully plowing the fields, and the donkeys were grazing nearby when they attacked without warning. They slaughtered the other servants and stole all the animals. It was brutal! I barely escaped with my life to bring you this terrible news.”

Verse: “The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys feeding beside them, when the Sabeans attacked.” (Job 1:14-15)
