Privacy
How Gosful uses information to provide accounts, discovery and community features.
Account information
Gosful stores the information you provide for your account, including your email, display name, username, profile photo, city, interests, date of birth, optional gender and optional bio. Your birth date and gender are used for age eligibility and relevant experience preferences and are not shown on public profiles. Members can optionally submit an unverified phone number and separately choose whether to receive operational or promotional SMS. Unverified numbers cannot receive promotional or operational event SMS; members may request a verification code to activate alerts. Permissions can be withdrawn in Settings. Africa's Talking processes delivery of SMS messages and delivery status when enabled; mobile network restrictions may apply. Your username creates a stable member-profile URL. Passwords are stored as hashes. If you choose a connected sign-in provider, we retain the account association needed for that sign-in method.
Content and activity
We retain your favorite places, visits, reviews, contributions, event plans and publishing agreement acceptance. Public listings and contributions may be visible to other visitors. Drafts and draft images are restricted to their author and authorised editors. Business-claim evidence is restricted to the requester and administrators.
Event attendance and privacy
When you mark yourself Going, the event attendance total includes you. During onboarding, Everyone is preselected as your attendance audience; you may choose Other attendees or Only me before finishing. Everyone allows your display name and profile photo to appear on public event pages, including to signed-out visitors. Other attendees limits the guest-list identity to eligible people attending the same event and authorized organizers. Only me keeps your identity hidden from attendee lists, but your registration still contributes to the event total. You can change your default in Settings and override it for an individual event. Public event attendance details may be copied by viewers before a preference is changed. The primary host and accepted co-hosts can access the guest and check-in information needed to run their event. Host identities are visible in the event’s People Going section even if they have not RSVP’d. Invite-only events restrict details and attendance to authorized guests, and invited members can request host approval.
Member profiles and event messages
Gosful Plus members can discover profiles that users have made discoverable across the platform. Public event previews can show the names and photos of people who selected Everyone for that event; that does not reveal their private plans. Members receiving a message request can view the sender's shared profile before accepting, even without Plus. Member profiles show information you choose to share and are not intended for search-engine indexing. Sending message requests is limited to eligible members attending the same event. You can turn message requests off in Settings. Your email address and phone number are not shared through event messaging. Conversations can be accepted, declined, blocked or reported.
Services, payments and moderation
Gosful uses hosting and database services to operate the platform, Cloudflare R2 for uploaded photographs, an email service for account messages, and Paystack to process paid event ticket transactions. Gosful does not store your card details. Reports and moderation decisions are retained to support platform safety and account access. Private report evidence is temporarily retained for investigation, then deleted after a recovery period of 90 days following resolution. External websites, payment providers and sign-in providers have their own privacy practices.
Managing your information
Use Settings to edit your profile, privacy preferences and sign-in methods. You can request an encrypted download of eligible account data and uploaded photographs, or temporarily deactivate your account. Account deletion requests hide the member profile and begin a 30-day recovery period from confirmation. Logging back in does not cancel deletion: choose Restore account while eligible. Financial, hosting and legal obligations may require manual review and retention, and some information may be anonymised instead of immediately erased. Contact support to request additional data access, deletion or privacy assistance.
